The ultimate developer preview regarding the Android M OS has been released by Google. The first devices that received the upgrade were Nexus 5, 6, 9 and last but not least the Nexus Player.
As soon as the trial period is over, the update will be officially released to the public. Even if there are no official release dates yet, there are several manufacturers (Samsung, Motorola, HTC, LG just to name a few) that are eager to unleash this new update to their handsets.
The new HTC handset models, HTC One M8, One M9, and One M9+ will be added on Android 6.0 list. According to Jeff Gordon (Senior Global Online Communications Manager at HTC). the Android M arrival on the HTC One M9 and M9+ is a sure thing.
And even if at first there were some doubts on whether or not the HTC One M8 (2014 version) will get the Android M update, now Mo Versi (HTC US chief) has confirmed that the latter device will also receive the update.
In other news, LG hasn’t reveled when the new premium device LG G4 will receive the update. The same thing applies to the LG G3 and LG G2.
Rumor has it that LG might just pass up the version of the Android Lollipop and skip right to the Android M update. And the evidence to prove this stratagem is offered by Greek tech website. The latter source found on LG’s official Greek Facebook page a post saying that Android 5.1 will be eschewed and that the company will move on to the Android M update straight away for the LG G3 gizmo.
Let us recall that this is not the first time LG decides to pass up an update, Android 4.4.4 KitKat upgrades were omitted by the company as well.
However it seems that a report issued by GSM Arena states that the LG G2 device will get the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update.
The only sure thing for now is the fact that Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be the main operating system for the new Nexus 2 2015 device. Google is planning on making the Android 6.0 Marshmallow available for the general public either in September or October. This will happen via LG Nexus 5 and Huawei Nexus 6. The runner ups are HTC’s devices: the HTC One M9, One M9+ and LG G4.
