Google has finally revealed its Android 6.0 OS which will be named Marshmallow. The third and final Android 6.0 Marshmallow preview version has also been released and the developers can test it out on the recent Nexus models.
Google’s upcoming Nexus 5 (2015) editions that will be manufactured by LG and Huawei will come with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. After that, the Android 6.0 will also be released for devices that are manufactured by other companies such as HTC, LG, Samsung, Motorola and the rest.
It seems that the Android 6.0 will be released for Motorola’s latest three devices of its smartphone line up, such as the second-generation Moto X 2014, Moto X Style and Moto X Play.
It is good to know that in the U.S., the Moto X Pure Edition is an unlocked version of the Moto X Style which will be released on September 3, 2015. The Moto X Pure Edition will be powered by a six-core Snapdragon 808 processor that will be backed by 3GB of RAM. The device will feature a 5.7-inch screen, a primary camera of 21MP which will be found on the rear side, a 5MP secondary camera that will sit above the screen, and a non-removable battery of 3000 mAh.
On the other hand, the Moto X Play is Motorola’s new budget device that features a 5.5-inch display screen, an octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor clocked at 1.6GHz, a primary camera of 21MP that’s found on the rear side of the device and a secondary camera of 5MP that’s found on the front side. The device is backed by 2GB of RAM and supports a non-removable battery of 3630 mAh.
Moto X Play was previously offered outside of the U.S., but according to Phandroid, this device will also come to the U.S.. Verizon will be the only carrier that will sell this device in the U.S. and it will be called Motorola Droid Maxx 2.
David Schuster, Motorola’s software product manager confirmed last month that the Android 5.1 version is being distributed to the Moto X 2014 devices that are connected to AT&T and Verizon carries. With other words, this is a move that clearly shows that they are preparing the device for the upcoming Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade.
The Moto X 2014, Moto X Style and Moto X Play are expected to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update before the end of the year.
