In 2014, Google released two Nexuses, but a phablet (created by Motorola) and a tablet (created by HTC). The Nexus 6 wasn’t for everyone because of its exaggerated dimensions, which made it feel uncomfortable to hold, especially if the owner had small hands, while the Nexus 9 tablet wasn’t as popular as expected.

This is the reason why Google dropped the idea to release another tablet, and instead, the company will bring two Nexus smartphones: the successor of the Nexus 5 (created also by LG) and the successor of the Nexus 6 (this time, created by Huawei).

The smaller Nexus will not look like the 2013 model, as it will be larger and with a different design. The rumors say that it will cost around 350 dollars and it will come with a 5.2-inch Full HD screen that will support a pixel density of 424ppi.

Inside, it will have an hexa core 1.8GHz Snapdragon 808 processor that will be paired with Adreno 418 graphics and 3GB of RAM, the internal memory will be unexpandable, as expected, but it isn’t sure if the capacity will start from 16GB, or if LG will opt for a 32GB option.

The latest leaks suggest that the dimensions of the device will be 146.9×72.9x8mm and because of the bulge of the rear camera, in that area, the thickness will be 9.8mm. The Weibo, a Chinese micro-blogging site claims that the Nexus 5 2015 will have a 13MP rear camera built by Sony, which will feature OIS, laser autofocus and an f1.8 aperture, while the front camera will be either 4MP or 5MP. Some say that the battery will have a capacity of 3,180 mAh, while others believe that the unit will be much smaller at 2,700 mAh.

The Chinese-based company was given the opportunity to prove what it’s capable of, and soon, we will see if its version of Nexus 6 will blow our minds. What we know about it, so far, is that its display will measure 5.7-inch, it will support a resolution of 1440 x 2560 which will give a pixel density of 515ppi. It will be powered by an octa core 2.0GHz Snapdragon 810 processor, it will house 3GB of RAM, two variants of internal storage: 32 and 64GB, also unexpandable.

On some tech sites, the specs for the two cameras point out to these resolutions: 21MP on the back with dual LED flash and 8MP on the front. The body will be made of metal and on the back will be placed a fingerprint scanner. The phone will cost around 650 dollars and will come with a battery of 3,300 mAh, a pair of speakers, USB Type-C and Quick-charge 2.0.

Both phones will be launched with Android Marshmallow out of the box and will support Android Pay.
