Alcatel is back and we surely missed to hear this name. Its latest phablet is a beauty with faux brushed metal back, it’s very slim and has some awesome specs. Motorola is a veteran with a large collection of smartphones, from low-end to flagship devices. The Moto G 2015 is the third model of this line, and it received minor improvements to its processor.

The Idol 3 has a newer Qualcomm chipset, which is MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 and which houses two quad core processors clocked at 1.5GHz and 1GHz respectively. This device uses Adreno 405 graphics and supports 2GB of RAM, while its internal memories have capacities of 16GB and 32GB (the Dual SIM version), but they can be expanded up to 128GB.

The Moto G is a weaker performer with its quad core Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 processor running at 1.4GHz with Adreno 306 graphics and 1GB (8GB of storage) or 2GB (16GB of storage) of RAM. Luckily, the phone allows you to add a microSD card, and get 32GB of storage.

The Idol 3 is larger, featuring a 5.5-inch IPS LCD screen that supports 1080 x 1920 pixels at 401ppi, while the Moto G 2015 has the same screen as the predecessor: IPS LCD sized at 5.0-inch, which supports 720 x 1280 pixels at 294ppi. The Motorola handset has acceptable viewing angles, the colors are vibrant, but we must admit that the Alcatel phone has a better color reproduction.

The Moto G is water resistant, it has a curved body made of plastic, resembling the previous model, but it added a faux aluminum strip running down the middle of the back, which contains the camera, flash and dimple. The phone has a thickness of 11.6mm and weights 155grams, and if you don’t like the default back plate, you can customize the phone the way you want, via the Moto Maker program.

The Idol 3 measures 152.7×75.1×7.4mm and it’s lighter at 141grams. The back looks like it’s made of brushed metal, but in reality, the material is plastic. The frame is actually made of metal and it gives a premium look to the device.

The Idol 3 has a bigger battery of 2910 mAh, but it lasts almost as much as the 2470 mAh battery from the Moto G, because it has a larger display and a more powerful processor.

The back cameras have a resolution of 13MP on both phones, but the Moto G uses dual-LED flash and auto-HDR. When it comes to secondary cameras, the Idol 3 takes the lead with its 8MP shooter, while the Moto G settles for a 5MP camera.
