The UK EE mobile operator entered the action camera market, releasing the 4GEE Action Cam which challenges the famous GoPro Hero4. The device has 4G video-streaming capabilities and other advantages that will convince you to spend £399.99 ($615) on it.

The 4GEE Action Cam was released on June 16, but with an internal memory of 2.5GB. Luckily, the users can add a microSD card and get a capacity of 64 GB, which they can fill up with photos and HD videos. When shooting videos on the go, the users are able to stream them at once, as the device relies on the 4G network, because it supports a SIM card which gives access to the internet, and therefore, the videos can be streamed online.

The device is able to shoot full HD videos at 30fps or 720p videos at 60fps, as EE said that it’s “perfect for capturing ultra-smooth action footage, such as cycling and other fast moving adventure sports”.

Also, the videos are streamed in 720p resolution at 30fps, not higher and the footages must be stored. As for the resolution of the camera, it’s 13MP and enough for taking great photos.

Both the Hero4 Black and the Hero4 Silver can shoot 12MP, but the former is able to record 4K videos at 30fps and slow motion Full HD videos at 120fps, while the latter shoots only Full HD videos at 60fps because of its weaker processor. The Hero4 cameras have in addition Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support, but they lack 4G video-streaming.

Another important feature of EE’s camera is the ViewFinder Watch, which can be paired to the camera by going to the Menu>Pairing>Watch. By pressing and holding Photo and Videos in the same time, the users will turn of pairing and they will enable WiFi pairing to Mobile. With ViewFinder Watch, the users can see whatever they’re shooting, without needing a smartphone to be paired.

Likewise the Go Pro cameras, the 4GEE Action Cam is waterproof. Even the watch is resistant to water and the users can take photos by pressing a button on it, so they won’t need to handle the camera. The ViewFinder Watch is very useful when taking a group photo and there’s no one around to press the button from the camera.

Both the Android and iOS users can install the Action Cam app and with it, they control the camera’s settings and functions. In addition, they can stream videos to private groups.
