Today we are going the compare the specifications of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S 8.4 that with the specifications of Apple’s iPad Mini. We’re going to lay out what every device can deliver and you will have to decide which one suits your preferences the best.

The Apple tablet has a 7.9 inches display with IPS technology that includes a multitouch feature. The pixel resolution the iPad Mini can render is of 2048×1536, making its pixel density of 326 pixels per inch.

Samsung’s device has a bigger 8.4 inches display which holds the company’s famous Super AMOLED technology. The screen renders a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels, making the pixel density of 359 ppi. By just comparing the specs and not subjecting the tablets to an actual test, the Galaxy Tab S 84 seems to win this round.

We’ll start out with the iPad Mini which, as usual, has an Apple chipset: the A7 which helps the processor to run at 1.3 GHz. This is the chipset you will find on other popular Apple devices like the iPad Air and iPhone 5S. The processor is backed up by 1 GB of RAM. The iPad Mini comes with different storage capacity options from 16 GB to 128 GB. The operating system for this gadget is iOS 7 which will probably be upgraded to iOS 8.

The processor we see the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 equipped with is an octa-core Exynos one that clocks in at 1.3 GHz (four cores) and 1.9 GHz (four cores). The amount of RAM available for the Samsung tablet is of 3 GB. As for internal memory, we’re seeing a 16 GB version of the device, but fortunately the company has included a microSD card slot which allows for you to boost the storage capacity by 128 GB. The OS the Samsung device runs on is Android KitKat (the 4.4 version) which will probably be updated as well.

We’re starting with Apple again here, mentioning that the primary camera has 5 MP with features like full-HD video recording. As for the secondary camera we’re faced with an iSight camera that has 1.2 MP.

As for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4, the tablet has better specs in this department: the primary camera has 8 MP with LED flash and the secondary one has 2.1 MP. Even though tablet cameras aren’t used that profusely, we can’t deny that the South Korean tech giant has a better tablet regarding the photography department.

We can’t exactly compare the two yet, but we can tell you that the tests ran on the iPad Mini say that the device can hold up to 10 hours of web usage. As for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4, we can only say that it has a battery with a large capacity of 4900 mAh, but the device may burn through it easily.

The price of Apple’s tablet varies from 500 US dollars (for the 16 GB version) to 1040 US dollars (for the 128 GB variant).

As for Samsung’s gadget aksi starts out at around 500 US dollars, with a 32 GB variant available, the price of which hasn’t been exactly settled.
