Sharing is caring!

The Galaxy S5 was uglier and weaker than the Galaxy Note 4, then Samsung started from scratch and built a totally different Galaxy S6, which was successful and the following smartphones started sharing the same design and many of its specs. If you were expecting to spend your money on a spectacular phablet with an improved processor, then we’re sorry to disappoint you, but the Note 5 has almost the same performance as the Galaxy S6, only that it has more RAM.

Good bye, plastic, hello glass and metal! This is Samsung’s new style and we love it. But it seems that Samsung loves it more, because most of the new phones are carbon copies of the Galaxy S6. The device has both panels made of glass and an aluminum band running around the edge, but it lost the dust and water proof. Its dimensions are 143.4×70.5×6.8 mm, there’s no microSD card slot on the side to expand the internal memory and there’s no access to the battery. Its weight is 138grams, which is average for its size.

The Note 5 looks almost identical, but it couldn’t lack the S Pen stylus which is introduced inside the device through the slot located on the bottom left. On the front side, hidden inside the home button is the fingerprint scanner which is PayPal certified, and since it’s a phablet, it’s way larger than the Galaxy S6, measuring 153.2×76.1×7.6mm. Also, it’s heavier and it weights 171grams.

Both the Galaxy S6 and Note 5 are using a Super AMOLED display created by Samsung, but even if they have different sizes, the resolution is identical at 2560x1440pixels. The Note 5 is fitted with a 5.7inches screen that gives a pixel density of 518ppi. The Galaxy S6 has a smaller 5.1inches screen which has a higher pixel density of 577ppi, making the images look sharper. The difference is that the Note 5 has a special digitizer for its display which allows the users to take notes or to draw using the S Pen.

As we already specified, both phones are using the same octa core processor – Exynos 7420 formed by a quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU and a quad-core 2.1GHz Cortex-A57 CPU, built on the 14nm process, which offers a better performance than the Snapdragon 810. However, the Galaxy S6 has 3GB of LPDDR4, while the Note 5 received an extra GB, in order to improve the multitasking.

None of the devices gives the option to expand the internal memory, but only the Galaxy S6 has a third variant with a capacity of 128GB, but at least the storage is UFS 2.0 NAND, which is very fast.

Both phones have a 16MP camera on the back with OIS and LED flash and a secondary camera of 5MP for selfies.

The Note was launched with Android OS, v5.1.1 (Lollipop), while the Galaxy S6 was upgraded recently to this version. Also, on top of the Android OS was placed the latest version of TouchWiz, but the icons from the Note 5 appear different, a bit uglier. But the phablet compensates the minuses with the Multi-Window mode, which allows the users to open two applications and work with them in split-screen.

Both are non-removable and obviously, the Galaxy S6 has a smaller unit, whose capacity is 2550mAh, compared to 3000mAh – which fits inside the Note 5.
