Even if Samsung released the Galaxy S6 and Note 5 duo, there are people who are interested in the previous models because of various reasons – one of them is the lower price. But, the Note 4 and Galaxy S5 are still in high demand and since their prices got cut, maybe you’ll decide to buy one of them. Below, you’ll find a comparison between their specs.

If the Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 are very much alike, we can’t say the same thing about their predecessors. The Galaxy S5 is not the prettiest phone, but if you don’t mind the plastic back with a dotted pattern and the silver frame that runs around the edges, then you’ll find the device acceptable in terms of design. It has a thickness of 8.1mm, it weights 145grams and it’s water and dust resistant, plus on the front side, below the screen, you’ll find an oval home button with a fingerprint scanner integrated inside of it.

The Note 4 lacks the dust and water protection, but it has the fingerprint scanner and the frame is made of metal, giving it a premium look. The back cover is also made of plastic, but it has faux leather pattern, which makes it less prone to scratches.

Both phones have Super AMOLED screens, but the Galaxy S5 has a smaller one that measures 5.1inches and which supports Full HD resolution of 1080×1920 pixels at 432 ppi. For the Note 4 was used a larger screen of 5.7inches, which is capable of supporting a higher resolution of 2560×1440 pixels and a pixel density of 515ppi, which results in a more pronounced sharpness.

The Galaxy S5 has weaker specs, as it received a 32bit Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chipset that is powered by a quad-core 2.5GHz Krait 400 processor, which is coupled with 2GB of RAM and Adreno 330 graphics. There are two variants of internal memories: 16GB and 32GB, but if you want more storage, then you’ll add a microSD card and obtain a capacity of 128GB.

The Note 4 came with a newer Qualcomm chipset – Snapdragon 805, which houses a quad-core 2.7GHz Krait 450 processor with Adreno 420 graphics and 3GB of RAM, but there is another variant that uses an octa core Exynos 5433 processor consisting of two quad core processors clocked at 1.3GHz and 1.9GHz respectively. The phablet has 32GB of storage and Samsung added a slot for expansion up to 128GB.

In the Antutu test, the Note 4 obtained a score of 44,825, much higher than S5’s score of 35,884.

Both rear cameras have a resolution of 16MP, but the Note 4 supports optical image stabilization, a technology that improves the performance in difficult conditions (low light). The front camera from the S5 is much weaker, as it supports 2MP, while the phablet has a secondary camera of 3.7MP. Remember that the Samsung cameras tend to produce oversaturated colors.

Both phones have removable batteries, but the Note 4 comes with a bigger one of 3220mAh, which has a longer life than the 2,800mAh battery from the Galaxy S5.

On the Note 4 you’d pay 543 dollars if you’ll order it from Amazon. The 16GB variant of the Galaxy S5 costs 398 dollars on the same website.
