Two new Samsung flagships will take over the world in short time. The S6 Edge+ and the Note 5 were unveiled two days ago, but they seem to have many mutual features, identical hardware and batteries. They have almost the same physical dimensions, only that the screen is curved on both sides on the Galaxy S6 Edge+, as the phone is just a larger variant of the flagship that was released along with the Galaxy S6. The Note 5 will be available later in the UK, but likewise the S6 Edge+, it will come with a few variations.

The Note 5 is thicker, but it has an S Pen

The Note 5 has a thickness of 7.6mm, but that’s because it has an S Pen stylus that is tucked into the bottom right corner and the tool is still big enough, to imitate a real pencil. The phablet has a height of 153.2mm, a width of 76.1mm and a weight of 171grams.

The Galaxy S6 Edge+ is 6.9mm thick, but it’s a bit taller at 154.4mm and narrower at 75.8mm, weighting 153grams. It features the same all-metal build with glass on both sides and has a fingerprint scanner, but follows in the footsteps of the Galaxy S6 Edge, featuring a dual-edge display.

Same screen size and resolution

The screens are Super AMOLED and sized at 5.7inches, supporting a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, but which gives a lower pixel density of 515ppi. The Galaxy S6 Edge offers 577ppi, but that’s because the screen is smaller at 5.1mm. Though, the S6 Edge+ and the Note 5 still have sharp and crisp screens, but the dual-edged model allows you to add color to your calls, so when someone (a favorite contact) calls you, the edge lighting changes, so you can know who’s calling you, without even picking up the phone from the table.

Identical cameras

They both come with a 16MP rear camera with an aperture of f/1.9 and optical image stabilization, but the S6 Edge+ comes with auto HDR. The front cameras are also the same and support 5MP.

Identical hardware

They’re both powered by an octa-core Exynos processor formed by two quad core processors clocked at 1.5GHz and 2.1GHz, which are backed by 4GB of RAM and Mali-T760MP8 graphics. None of them has a microSD card slot and the variants include variants of 32, 64 and 128GB.

Huawei Ascend P7, Galaxy Note 4 , Note Edge, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OTA Update

The batteries are non-removable and with a capacity of 3000mAh, which means that they should have the same duration of life.

The software is similar, but there are some variations

Both phablets will run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, which will be layered by Samsung’s TouchWiz interface. The difference is that the Note 5 has those Air Commands which will take advantage of the S Pen, while the S6 Edge+ has some applications that are used specifically for the curved sides of its display.
