All clues seem to indicate that LG might be passing up the new Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for the LG G2, LG G3, and LG G4 devices. However, there is a reason behind this decision.

Apparently, the company has decided to skip the latter update because it is waiting for the upcoming Android M. But unfortunately, up until now, Google hasn’t revealed any info regarding the big release for the Android M.

In the meantime, let’s check out some Android 5.1.1 Lollipop release details regarding LG’s top three devices, mentioned above.

LG G3, Android 6.0 Marshmallow, Android Update

When it came out, the LG G4 gizmo had the Android 5.1 Lollipop already set up. Unfortunately, the Android 5.1.1 update is not accessible for the latter device, nor is it accessible for LG G2 and LG G3. And here is where the contradictory opinions begin.

Some individuals think that the company will finally unveil the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop later this year, whereas others strongly believe that the latter update will be eschewed for sure.

Moreover, LG has skipped other Android updates in the past; Android 4.4.4 KitKat and the 4.4.3 KitKat version are two such examples. Samsung, on the other hand, being really consistent with its updates, hasn’t missed out on any of them. So, LG better step up and reveal an Android update soon, if it wants to keep up the rivalry with the other big names in the industry.

And while devices like LG G3 and LG G4 can count on Android updates, the future of LG G2 is unsure. GSMArena states in an optimistic tone that the LG G2 will receive the Android 5.1.1 update pretty soon.

Android M is only accessible for the developers as a preview version, of course. The general public will still have to wait until this Android newborn is ready to hit the masses. Expect the Android M to be revealed in the month of October, according to AndroidPit.
