Even if soon they’ll celebrate their second birthday, the iPhone 5S and Nexus 5 are still two of the most wanted smartphones, because they have some amazing specs and their prices were dropped to make room for their successors.

Considering that this September we’ll see the a new iPhone 6S and one month later, Google will present its next Nexus, which is rumored to be the successor of the Nexus 5, the phones we’re comparing we’ll get even cheaper. Below, you’ll find a comparison between their specs and features.

Design

The LG Nexus 5 isn’t the prettiest phones from the market, being rather acceptable, and many fans really liked the simple plastic back with flat edges and floating arc design. The device has a thickness of 8.6mm, a weight of 130 grams and a 4.95 inches True HD IPS+ display supporting Full HD resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels with 445 ppi.

The iPhone 5S has a more premium construction, featuring an aluminum body with two wide bands on the back, at the top and bottom. Some users complained about that the phone is more fragile and they bought a protective case, to avoid any unpleasant situations. The screen is a lot smaller compared to its rival’s, measuring 4inches, and it’s a LED-backlit IPS LCD that supports 640 x 1136 pixels at 326 ppi. Before rushing to conclude that the Nexus 5 has a better display, remember that the narrow screen of the iPhone offers a great user experience in both portrait and landscape mode.

Regarding its dimensions, you’ll be happy with its thickness of 7.6mm and height of 123.8mm, which makes it very comfortable to hold. Plus, it weights only 112grams.

Hardware

LG equipped the Nexus 5 with a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.3GHz, which is paired with 2GB of RAM. This combination brought it a score of 2800 in the Geekbench 3; 2.7 of 24fps in the GLBenchmark and a time of 801ms in the SunSpider test. The phone has two variants of internal memories of 16 and 32GB, which don’t support expansion.

The iPhone 5S uses a 64bit A7 dual core processor clocked at 1.3GHz, and which is backed by 1GB of RAM. Some of the notable benchmark results are: a score of 2561 in the Geekbench 3; a time of 417ms in the SunSpider 1.0 and it managed 53fps in the GLBenchmark 2.7. Its internal memory variants are 16, 32 and 64GB and there’s no microSD card slot either.

Cameras

The rear cameras have the same resolution of 8MP, but while the iPhone 5S can record videos in slow motion and has True Tone flash, the Nexus 5 came with optical image stabilization and HDR+ mode. The front cameras are 1.3MP on the Nexus 5 (it records1080p videos) and 1.2MP on the iPhone 5S (it records 720p videos).

Batteries

The iPhone 5S is powered by a battery of 1560 mAh, which provides only ten hours of talking time over 3G, while the 2300 mAh battery from the Nexus 5 can last 17 hours.
