In 2015, Apple returned with a new MacBook, which has a Retina display sized at 12inches and other features such as Force Touch, but let’s see if it beats the Microsoft Surface 3 laplet, which was upgraded to Windows 10.

Microsoft Surface Pro 3 Battery Issue

The MacBook 2015 comes with an aluminum unibody design – nothing unusual so far, and it’s available in three colors: silver, gold and space gray. It has a height of 1.31cm (the lid has a thickness of 0.35cm), a width of 28.05cm and a depth of 19.65cm, it weights 0.92Kg and uses a non-moving trackpad (Force Touch technology).

The Microsoft Surface 3 measures 267x187x8.7mm, it weights 622grams and it has a magnesium body. You can easily transform it into a laptop by adding a Type cover, which can be purchased from the official Microsoft Store. In addition, you can use a mouse and a stylus, which are also found on the website.

The MacBook 2015 has a larger Retina screen of 12inches, which uses LED-backlit technology and an aspect ratio of 16:10. The maximum supported resolution is 2304-by-1440, but you can lower it to 1440 by 900, 1280 by 800 or 1024 by 640.

The Surface 3 is equipped with a smaller 10.8inches ClearType screen with 3:2 aspect ratio and which supports a resolution of 1920×1280 pixels. It looks very sharp, but it can’t be compared to that of the MacBook, which is lighter.

The new Surface 3 is powered by a quad core Intel Atom x7-Z8700 processor whose speed can be boosted up from 1.6GHz to 2.4GHz. It has either 64GB of internal memory with 2GB of RAM and costs $499, or 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage and costs $100 more.

The MacBook 2015 houses 8GB of 1600MHz LPDDR3 onboard memory and a dual core Core M processor, but which is available in two variants: one with a lower speed of 1.1GHz, which can be increased up to 2.9GHz, and which has 256GB PCIe-based onboard flash storage and costs $1299, while the other variant is slightly faster, being powered by a 1.2GHz processor with a Turbo Boost up to 2.6GHz, but which is configurable to 1.3GHz dual core Intel Core M processor with Turbo Boost up to 2.9GHz. The storage has a capacity of 512GB and the price of this model is $1599.

However, only the Surface 3 allows you to add a microSD card, to expand the internals storage.

The Surface 3 has a 3.5MP camera on the front side and an 8MP back camera, while the MacBook has only a 480p FaceTime camera.

The MacBook is powered by a 39.7Wh lithium-polymer battery and comes with a 29W USB-C Power Adapter and a USB-C power port. The Surface 3 uses a 28Wh battery onboard which keeps it alive for nine hours.
