Samsung and HTC are two of the manufacturers that respect their loyal fans, bringing them all kinds of new successors for their important flagships. The Galaxy S6 was released along with a double edged variant, while the One M9 came with a similar design, but with better specs. However, below, you’ll understand why the Galaxy S6 is a better deal and we’ll tell you everything about its advantages.
Design and build quality
Now, we can’t force you to change your tastes, to prefer glass over metal, but in our opinion, the Galaxy S6 is more premium and without a doubt, it’s a big improvement over the previous Galaxy S5, which had a plastic dotted pattern. The new flagship is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass on both sides and has a metallic frame which replaces the poor quality silver plastic frame.
The device is available in four variants of colors: Black Sapphire, White Pearl, Gold Platinum and Blue Topaz and it’s very thin at 6.8mm.
The One M9 has a uni-body metal construction, featuring a curved back with two horizontal strips, but it’s much thicker at 9.6mm and a bit taller at 144.6mm compared to 143.4mm.
The screen from the Galaxy S6 is more vibrant because it uses Super AMOLED technology, and it’s also larger at 5.1inches. Plus, it’s capable of offering QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels at 577ppi, resulting in a better contrast, more accurate colors etc. The One M9 inherited the 5inches Super LCD3 screen from its predecessor and it supports Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels at 441ppi.
The third advantage of the Galaxy S6 is the faster processor, which is an Exynos 7420 octa core formed by a quad core 1.5GHz Cortex-A53 CPU and quad core 2.1GHz Cortex-A57 CPU. This processor defeated Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 octa core processor (quad core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & quad core 2GHz Cortex-A57) in most of the tests and it doesn’t have heating problems.
This is why Samsung preferred to focus on its own technology, instead of equipping its flagships with a “hot” processor.
The batter from the Galaxy S6 is 2550 mAh, but it lasts longer than HTC One M9’s 2840 mAh battery.
The resolution of the back camera from the Galaxy S6 is lower at 16MP, compared to the 20MP main camera from the One M9, but the phone has more features, such as optical image stabilization and auto HDR, taking more vibrant pictures than its opponent. Many reviewers tested both of the cameras and they concluded that the ones that were captured with the Galaxy S6 are vastly superior. Plus, the Samsung flagship has a better front camera of 5MP, which beats the 4MP Ultrapixel front camera from the One M9.
The galaxy S6 has a fingerprint sensor and supports wifi charging (PMA and Qi standards), it has a heart rate monitor and an IR blaster.
