Jeff Kaplan, the Game Director of Overwatch, has a message for all Overwatch gamers that play this title on consoles using a keyboard as their controller of choice. Kaplan says that the console gamers that play Overwatch should NOT use the keyboard and mouse.
It seems that the Overwatch team objects to the use of keyboard and mouse on console. In fact, the team has already contacted the first-party console manufacturers and expressed its concern about the use of these “PC” devices.
We should mention that neither Xbox One nor PlayStation 4 support mouse-and-keyboard setups. However, players have found a way to use them via some kind of convertors by hooking them up to their consoles.
Likewise Overwatch players on PC, using a mouse allows you to have more precise aiming than with a control stick. So, since not everyone has access to a mouse on a console, because of the lack of native support, it creates an unfair advantage to those who have spent good money to purchase a convertor.
We remind you that Blizzard has released a patch that has weakened Torbjorn, a character that has gained popularity on console. The reason why Torbjorn is used by Overwatch gamers on consoles is because the character is able to build a turret that auto-aims any enemy that gets in range.
Jeff Kaplan has not mentioned what the Overwatch team will actually do to the console gamers that will keep using mouse and keyboard on their Xbox One or PlayStation 4 consoles. However, the team has mentioned that if these consoles will officially support mouse and keyboard in the future, they will agree with the gamers playing with these PC “tools”.
