Jailbreaking is a fact of life for many iOS device users. Unfortunately, as of the moment, those who are running iOS 10 don’t have access to a reliable jailbreaking tool that will give them access to all the tweaks they need. This has caused a lot of iPhone and iPad users to ask: when will we see an iOS 10 jailbreak from Pangu?
To be clear, a jailbreaking tool for iOS 10 is already available online. This tool was developed by renowned hacker Luca Todesco, who gained notoriety for being one of the first people to crack the latest iOS firmware releases and jailbreak his devices. For years, Todesco only showed people that jailbreaking was possible; he didn’t share the tools he used to achieve the goal. Recently, though, he broke his own rules by publicly releasing Yalu for iOS 10.1.1.
People were excited by this release since 1) they’ve been waiting for an iOS 10 jailbreak for quite some time now and 2) any tool developed by Todesco would most likely be excellent. Unfortunately, Yalu didn’t meet a lot of users’ expectations because it was still in beta phase and didn’t provide full support for Cydia. This caused many iPhone and iPad owners to clamor for a jailbreaking tool from Chinese hacking team Pangu.
The problem is that Pangu has not given any indication as to when they would release an iOS 10 jailbreaking tool. The team gave a demo on July 2016 showing that they had already jailbroken iOS 10, but several months have already passed and we’re still not seeing any sign of the tool.
Tech experts are theorizing that Pangu is waiting for Apple to release iOS 10.2.1 before they would roll out their jailbreaking tool. This way, the Cupertino-based company would not have the chance to patch up the vulnerability that Pangu would use for the jailbreak. iOS 10.2.1 is already on its fourth beta and might be released any time soon, so we can probably expect to see Pangu’s jailbreaking tool within the coming weeks.
