Having just ended their Android Nougat Beta program in late December, Samsung is going to receive an all important update to Android Nougat in no time at all. The bet program was made available in November by simply downloading the Galaxy Beta app from the app store.

Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge device owners are in for a treat as Samsung will update their devices straight to the newest version of Android 7.1.1 Nougat. They were to update the devices somewhere around December but it was delayed to January due to some minor bug fixes and stability tweaks. Information is already available in Samsung’s user manuals and we are here to shed some light over some important new features that this update will bring.

A new TouchWiz UI will get a revamp which will replace its green dominant color to a mix of blue and white. It will look like a Stock Android with flat icons and interface. Some of these factors denote Samsung trying to customize their interfaces to make them more user friendly and as stock as they can get without losing its main features.

The most anticipated update is a refurbished camera app which will eventually look less difficult and cluttered. This new app will be simpler to use and will bring us more accessible icons. Its focusing software will also be slightly tweaked to adjust focus of a different part of the same image while at the same time locking the focus elsewhere.

Some features from the defunct Note 7 will be added such as the improved lock screen which will enable its users to access some notification without having to access the main menu. Another addition is the addition of a blue light filter similar to the Google Pixel which will reduce the strain on users’ eyes by reducing blue light.

The last addition includes the likes of some new battery modes which will bring some new power plans such as Normal, Game Mode, Entertainment and High Performance, thus optimizing battery consumption and improving performance where it is needed.
