Apple is well known as one of the biggest players in the market when it comes to laptops. The fact that they have several laptop series considered successful makes Apple one of the top contenders any brand has to go through when they release a new laptop.

Although Apple and Microsoft have been rivals for a lifetime, only recently has Microsoft dipped its toes in the laptop market niche, with the release of last year’s Microsoft Surface Book.

A year has passed and it is once again time for manufactures to bring out new toys for their fan bases. Microsoft did not hesitate to push out the first upgrade for its Surface Book, in the form of a better battery and GPU, but also better dock. To pretty much no one’s surprise, Apple announced the release of its own laptop upgrades, just a day after their lifelong rival announced theirs.

Apple’s upgrade comes in the form of an OLED keyboard row that features touch functions, as well as a new line of processors. All these are for Apple’s MacBook Pro line of laptops, which has been around for a very long time, being a fan favorite.

This step forward represents not only Microsoft’s commitment to the current talk of the town, hybrid laptops, but also the eternal battle between Apple and Microsoft and how it is branching out on a new domain, namely the laptop market, with the rivalry already spread across multiple sub-markets such as desktop PC’s, operating systems, mobile phones and mobile phone operating system.

It will be interesting to see which one takes the point on this one, as both product upgrades promise to bring exciting new improvements on both sides. Be on the lookout as more updates on this subject will surface soon.
