If you’re a console gamer then you are probably familiar with the announcement Microsoft made at this year’s E3 that a new console project is in the works, entitled Project Scorpio, which will supposedly be one of the most powerful game consoles ever. At around that time, Sony announced a revamped version of the PlayStation 4, entitled PlayStation 4 Neo.
Here is an overview of what we know so far about the upcoming game consoles.
PS4 Neo and Xbox Scorpio Specs
There are many rumors about these consoles and their specs but one of the features that was confirmed for both of them is the 4K video support.
According to the statement made by Sony at the E3 2016, the PS4 Neo will support 4K video at 60 frames per second to boot. In order to do so, it will sport 6 teraflops of computing power. However, according to some leaked documents, the Neo console will feature 4.14 teraflops of GPU power.
As for the Xbox Scorpio console, Microsoft stated that it will sport an octa-core processor which is rumored to run at 2.1 GHZ clock speed.
Both consoles are rumored to come with 8GB or RAM.
As for VR support, both devices are confirmed to offer this feature; however, Xbox Scorpio is believed to be able to run higher-res virtual reality content.
PS4 neo and Xbox Scorpio Pricing and Release Date
Sony has not confirmed any released date for the upcoming PS4 Neo, just the announcement date which is set for the 7th of September 2016.
Microsoft’s Xbox Scorpio is scheduled for release sometime in 2017, during the Holiday season which mean that we could see it anytime between October and December. There is no official word on the pricing of either console, but several rumors state that they will cost somewhere between £500 and £600.
