We all know that tech giant Apple was the first one to introduce a Smart watch known as the Apple Watch. Recently, the company has come up with an amazing new feature for its Apple Watch along with the release of WatchOS 2 (which the company launched after a slight delay). This interesting new feature is called “Nightstand Mode” by which you can use your Apple Watch as an alarm clock too.

The Nightstand Mode is an excellent feature for those people who are used to check time before they’re going to sleep. The feature works in a super convenient way: as soon as you plug your Apple Watch to the charger and put it on its side, the display of the watch will remain active all night thus allowing you to use the device as an alarm clock or a nightstand clock.

In order to get your hands on the new feature, you first need to activate it and set it up which is pretty much easy and can be done in a nick of time. There are two methods of activating the nightstand mode, one on your iPhone and the other on your Apple Watch. To find out how, simply follow the below mentioned steps:



Turning on Nightstand mode on your iPhone

  • Launch the “Watch” app on your iPhone.
  • Tap on to “General.”
  • Find “Nightstand Mode” and toggle the switch next to it to “On.”

Turning on Nightstand mode on Apple Watch

  • Go to “Settings” on your Apple Watch.
  • Next, tap on to “General.”
  • Swipe a little down to find the Nightstand Mode and tap on it.
  • Slide the switch next to it to “On” to enable Nightstand Mode.

The Nightstand Mode is typically turned on by default in Apple Watch. However, it’s good to know these steps in case if the feature is disabled when you first get your Apple Watch. Besides everything, you have to make sure that your Apple Watch is running WatchOS 2.0 software for the nightstand mode to work.

Once you turn on the Nightstand Mode on your Apple Watch, you can very easily turn your watch into an alarm clock. Simply connect your watch with the charger and place the watch on its side with its digital crown facing upwards. The moment you do this, your watch will display the nightstand clock mode on its screen. To activate the mode, you just have to tap on the screen or hit any button on the watch. Doing this will display the current time and date, upcoming alarm along with the remaining battery percentage. As the time of the alarm you’ve set comes nearer, the screen of the watch starts to turn bright gradually. Once the alarm rings, the side buttons of the watch will work as controls for turning it off or you can use the digital crown of the watch to snooze the alarm when it rings. Simply disconnect the charger from the watch if you want to disable the nightstand mode.
