The Sims 4 senior producer Lyndsay Pearson officially rejected rumors about a console port being released this year; she stated that “we have no plans for a console version of The Sims 4 anytime in the near future“.

While this has essentially stopped the previous rumors about the future of The Sims 4 on console, there are still some fans who have their hopes set of a future console release. Most of this hope is based on the final piece of Pearson’s statement, “near future”. These fans are hopeful this could mean that the team hasn’t entirely rejected the possibility of a console release but they are not currently working on it.

The chance of The Sims 4 coming to the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One is very slim and current rumors suggest that EA is looking at The Sims 5 instead. According to these reports, The Sims 5 will be released on the next generation consoles as those consoles will offer much better performance.

Current rumors place the release for The Sims 5 in 2019 which is around the same time the next console generation should be released; reports suggest that The Sims 5 will be bundled with the next generation consoles in 2019.
