Sony has released its Xperia E4 handset back in March 2015 and it is expected to bring a successor in June 2016. A few things will change, not only internally, as the Xperia E5 will be smaller and will have a new design. Today we will compare these two smartphones and you will decide whether is worth buying the old or new upcoming model.
Displays and Designs
The Xperia E4 has an IPS display of 5-inch that supports a resolution of 960×540 pixels at 220 ppi. The Xperia E5 has a smaller IPS display of 4.6-inch that supports a higher resolution of 1280×720 pixels at 319 ppi. Sony hasn’t specified the dimensions of the upcoming E5, but we know that the E4 measures 137 x 74.6 x 10.5 mm, it has a plastic body with curved edges and physical buttons on the right side.
The power button is placed somewhere in the middle, it’s rounded and protruding, while the volume buttons sit below. On the E5, their place will be reversed and will be moved higher, while the power button will be flat.
Processors, Graphics Cards & RAM
The Xperia E4 features a Mediatek MT6582 chipset, a quad-core Cortex A7 processor clocked at 1.3GHz, a Mali-400MP2 graphics card and 1GB of RAM. On the other hand, the Xperia E5 has a Mediatek MT6735 chipset, a quad-core Cortex A53 processor clocked at 1.3GHz, a Mali-T720MP2 graphics card and 1.5GB of RAM.
The Xperia E4 has been released with an internal storage of 8GB, which can be expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card. The Xperia E5 has an internal memory of 16GB, but you can expand it up to 64GB using a microSD card.
The Xperia E4 sports a primary camera of 5MP that features LED flash, autofocus, HDR, panorama, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection and a secondary camera of 2MP. The Xperia E5 comes with a better primary camera of 13MP that features LED flash, autofocus, touch focus, geo-tagging, face detection, panorama, HDR and a secondary camera of 5MP.
The Xperia E4 has been released with a non-removable battery of 2300 mAh. Unfortunately, we have no information about the battery that the Xperia E5 will come with, but it is expected to be a non-removable one.
