The brand new Android Marshmallow updates is rolling out for almost all of the Sony Xperia devices except for the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. The lucky devices include the Sony Xperia Z2, Z3 and Z3 plus, the Z4 tablet and finally, for Xperia Z5.
As far as Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet are concerned, the Marshmallow update will come to the phone model number D6502 and tablet model numbers SGP521, SGP512 and SGP511.
Some of the aforementioned list of devices got the Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 at the beginning of May and their model numbers are: D5603, D5803, D6603 and the built number for the update is 23.5.A.0.570.
As mentioned previously, almost all of the Sony Xperia devices got the update except the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, but it will probably get it very soon as well.
The Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 also rolled out on the following Xperia devices with the build number 32.1.A.1.163: Xperia Z3 Plus – models number E6553 and E6533, the Xperia Z4 tablet – model numbers SPG771 and SPG 712, the Xperia Z5, Z5 Premium and Z5 Compact.
The update is about 900 MB in size so it will roll out gradually on these devices. If you want to see if you can get the update on your device, go to the Settings Menu, choose About device and then go to Check for Update and it will begin checking for any available updates.
If your device is eligible for an update, keep in mind that you will have to connect your device to a Wi-fi network that is reliable because if it’s not, it might interrupt the download. It’s also very important to either have a fully charged battery when downloading and installing the update or to connect the device to a power source if the battery levels are under 50%.
