The 13.3-inch MacBook Pro model that was released last year is now available with a $100 discount via Best Buy and this is suggesting that Apple is preparing to release its successor. The American giant hasn’t given a date when it will unveil the MacBook Pro 2016, but rumors say that this will happen next month, at the annual Worldwide Developers Conference that will be held in San Francisco.
The price reduction on the 13.3-inch MacBook Pro 2015 is clearly a sign that Apple is clearing retail shelves in order to make room for the newer model. And speculations suggest that its release is approaching, even without the discounts offered by various stores.
The MacBook Pro 2016 was expected to be unveiled in March, but at the Special Event, Apple has brought only the iPad Pro 9.7 and iPhone SE, disappointing the fans who were hoping to get more information about the highly-anticipated laptop.
WWDC will run June 13-17, and the event will take place at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, in San Francisco, and rumors about the release of the MacBook Pro 2016 have intensified lately. Apple hasn’t confirmed that the laptop will be unveiled at this event, but it dropped hints about the next iOS 10, OS X, WatchOS and tvOS.
As for the specs of the MacBook Pro 2016, it seems that the laptop will be powered by a Skylake CPU, which will replace the Broadwell and will offer an enhanced performance, alongside the latest generation GPU and SSD. The new models will be thinner and lighter than the new MacBook 12-inch, and even than the Air lineup. Rumors say that this is the reason why Apple is thinking about delaying the release of the next MacBook Air, or even killing the lineup.
Also, the MacBook 2016 is expected to come with touch sensitive keyboard, USB-C ports and it will run on OS X 10.12.
