Until the release of the first Surface Pro device, the consumers had to choose between tablets and laptops, because there wasn’t a middle way. Tablets were too weak to offer the performance of a laptop, and laptops were too big and heavy and hard to carry around. Luckily, Microsoft managed to combine the two and built a hybrid which made people’s lives better. Without the physical keyboard and mouse, the Surface Pro was used as a tablet, then with the help of the kickstand, the tablet could be placed on flat surface (desk). Apple saw how successful was the Surface Pro tablet and released a similar device, which is called iPad Pro. This is the largest Apple tablet ever.
The iPad Pro is available in two variants of internal memories. The 32GB version with Wi-Fi costs $799, while the 128GB version with Wi-Fi is priced at $949 and the Wi-Fi + Cellular model is $130 dollars more expensive. The price of the Surface Pro 4 starts at $899 for the variant with 128GB of storage, and the highest price is $1,799 for the model with the best configuration.
The Surface Pro 4 has the stylus included in the box, while Apple sells its pencil at a price of $99. As for the Smart Keyboard, its price is very high at $169, while the Type Cover compatible with the Surface Pro 4 costs $129.99 and it’s available in a variety of colors, but it also has backlit keys.
Dimensions and Displays
The iPad Pro has a larger screen of 12.9-inch supporting a resolution of 2048x2732pixels at 264ppi, and its body measures 305.7×220.6×6.9mm, being made of an aluminum alloy which is relatively lighter, as the WiFi model weights 713grams and the LTE model is 10grams heavier.
The Surface Pro 4 has a 12.3-inch Pixel Sense display with an aspect ratio of 3:2 and its resolution is 2736×1824 at 267ppi, but the exterior is made of magnesium and the tablet is thicker at 8.45mm, compared to 6.9mm, so it weights 766grams/the model with a weaker processor or 786grams/the other two versions.
Battery Life And Performance
The iPad Pro can last around 10 hours when browsing the web using a WiFi connection, while the Surface Pro 4 can last only six hours in the same condition. As for the hardware performance, the iPad Pro is able to handle most of the intensive tasks with its new Apple A9X dual-core 2.26GHz (Twister) processor, which is backed by 4GB of RAM. The Surface Pro 4 has the latest generation Intel Skylake dual-core processors, and they’re available in three variants: m3-6Y30 900 MHz up to 2.2GHz, i5-6300U 2.4 up to 3.0GHz and i7-6650U 2.2 up to 3.4GHz. The tablet supports 4GB, 8GB, or 16GB, depending on the configuration, so we guarantee you that the Surface Pro 4 is much more advanced than its rival.
